Using Voice dictation
software
Medchart is compatible with most voice dictation software.
I am currently using Dragon Naturally Speaking 6 preferred
edition. Below is my experience with the software:
- dictating into Medchart directly is too slow and prevents
the more detailed correction dialog in NS 6
- it is quite efficient to dictate into the Dragon Pad,
then paste the text into Medchart
- a bare minimum processor would be 800 MHz- it performs
much better on my current 1200 MHz system with 256 MB of
RAM
- I can average 80 words per minute including corrections-
faster than writing or typing
- entering a list of medical terms and drugs made a huge
difference in accuracy
- speaking more rapidly improves accuracy
