Twins and Tripplets

Medchart requires a unique phn for each patient. If you need to enter a twin or tripplet before or after a phn has been assigned follow these steps:

• Bill with the mothers phn
• Use the mother's surname
• For first name use "newborn female" or "newborn male"
• It is very important to provide baby's correct "date of birth"
• Indicate mothers first name and initial in the note record or claim comment field
  • either check the "twin" button on the main patient information screen-- or
  • for the second twin affix a letter such as "b" to the end of his or her phn. This letter will be stripped from the phn when the claim is sent
