Medchart News
updated
April 1, 2008
Medchart 14
A temporary version of Medchart containing the
April 2008 fee schedule is available for download. Renewal
notices will be sent shortly to current Medchart users.
Version 12.99
Includes a fix for some sites having problems
downloading Pathnet reports.
PITO & Medchart "13"
The new Medchart version "13" using
SQL server is finished. I will be making two versions available-
one using the MS Jet database (same as the current version)
as well as the more high powered SQL server database engine.
Medchart did not make it to the BCMA PITO short list due to
lack of support of the ASP data model (date access via the
Internet on a remote server). I have reservations re the speed
of data retrieval and custody of records using this model.
In any case I will test the suitability of this model. Medchart
13 includes all of the other requirements asked for by the
BCMA and will hopefully receive approval later.
Once I have updated the manual and installation
wizard I will send a letter to users. This will be in mid
August. MSP will also require some new fields to be added
to MSP claims and this functionality will be available in
the new version.
Version 12.81
Adds some tables and fields needed for saving
reports in the "chart" version. The algorithm to
add lab results to the CD summary has been improved.
Version 12.64
Additions include the new 'combo' diagnostic
codes for the GP complex care fee items and changes to the
sequence number wizard to allow starting a new data center.
Version 12.61
Includes all of the new GP complex care fee
items, cardiovascular prevention fee items ( Check back soon
for detailed instructions on taking advantage of these new
fee items) and a few minor bug fixes including a new "Osler"
data import utility and lab profile now work correctly.
Medchart "13"
The SQL server of the program is running smoothly
and is noticeable quicker (and more reliable) than the MS
Access version. It will be available for distribution in July.
Please check later for more details.
Version 12.53
A new feature (Billing- Complex pats) can be
used with the new GP complex care fee items. It allows
you to search for patients you have billed using 2 different
icd codes( such as 250 for diabetes and 293 for asthma).
version 12.51
MSP billing setup now has a button to check
the "send" file for problems.
New Fee Schedule
Version 12.50 includes the new MSP fee schedule.
For GPs there is a search feature (Billing-- complex patients)
that can be used to create a list of patients that may be
eligible for the new complex care fee items. Another selection
(Billing- Claims Current patient by icd9) show the amounts
you have billed on the selected patient by diagnostic code
over the last year.
Medchart 12.40
Includes a new search feature to list billing
for each patient by icd9 code (Billing-- Claims current pat
by icd9) for the last year. This will help with the new GP
complex care fee items. Check later for more details. There
are also some new MSP fee items but the new fee schedule is
not available yet from MSP.
Medchart 12.30
This is the current active version. OSMV claims
and WCB reports now work properly. New searches for MSP claims
submitted have been added (location, fee item ex.)
Medchart "13"
The SQL server based version of Medchart is
now up and running in my office. There are some speed gains
compared to the old Access 2003 database and it should prove
to be more reliable. It should be ready for general distribution
in the summer of 2007. This format will be compatible with
the requirements of the BCMA EMR program and I will attempt
to make it eligible for funding.
Version 12.22
New additions are a billing aged AR report,
improved phone message log and a fix to the schedule note
bug. The recall form has been improved and hopefully OSMV
claims are fixed.
Version 12.10
New features include a revised year end report
and some schedule improvements.
Flu Vaccine list
Now available for download- a small program
that extracts a list of patients eligible for flu vaccine.
You can add patients by age, diagnosis etc.
Latest update
Updated versions of Medchart are available for
download. The Windows 95/ 98 version fixes some bugs with
the end date as well as difficulties with some Microsoft DLL
files that were out of synch. The Windows 200/ XP version
fixes the same problems as well as contains several small
improvements.
New Location Codes
Starting October 1, 2006 MSP will only be accepting
claims that use the new location codes. If you have not received
a new copy of Medchart that uses the new codes you can download
a patch that converts the old codes to the new codes. This
will be available on a limited basis and can be downloaded
from this site starting October 2. There also is a new version
of Medchart for windows 98 or 95 that fixes a bug with the
end date.
Physician Information Technology Office (PITO)
and Medchart
As you probably know there will be funding for
electronic medical records from the BCMA. More details are
present on the BCMA web-site. One requirement will be a hosted
(ASP) data source. This means your data will reside on a computer
out of your office- accessed via the Internet. This is not
yet possible with Medchart but I have been actively testing
a prototype that should function well. Please check here later
for more details.
Version 12.03
This update includes new OSMV explanatoy codes
and several other improvements to the claim submission process.
Chronic Disease Wizard
I have added a wizard to setup this very useful
feature. It loads in some default parameters that you can
modify and also create a roster of patients suffering from
diabetes, CHF and hypertension. You can track billing for
the new GP chronic disease fee items. This wizard will only
work with Medchart 12. Check the download
area for more details.
Version 12 Disks
Disks have been mailed. If you haven't received
a renewal notice by now please let me know- Several have been
returned with incorrect addresses.
Version 12
You
can print an order form on-line.
Check
here for more details on the new version.
Office 2003 update/ Medchart 11
If you are using the Access 2003/ office XP
version of Medchart and have noticed some forms rapidly cycle
colors, Microsoft has fixed the problem. You can download
